Every now and then I find a fabric at a thrift store or craft store that I just draws me in and it ends up walking out the door with me. Sometimes it becomes a part of wardrobe but other times it just becomes clutter. I feel so bad for the lovely design on the dress or fabric swatch but I can't seem to incorporate it into my outfits or become added to a piece of clothing. The same can be said for old t-shirts and other clothes that I still love but no longer wear for some reason. So, an easy way to enjoy these finds is to turn them into simple pillows! Here are some I previously made...
| Pillow made with spare black fabric as a back, an old t-shirt I love, with fabric scraps and plastic bags as stuffing. |
| Pillow made out of fabric cut from Joann Fabrics, large piece of dyed cargo pants fabric from Charlotte Russe, and scrap fabric and plastic grocery bags for stuffing. |
This is a great and simple project that demonstrates reusing and recycling rather than just leaving to pile up in a land fill. This is great for items with a little wear (faded, stained, torn) but still have a lot of potential. These also make great gifts and are very inexpensive to make, rather than the pre-made pillows in department and home goods stores. Tomorrow I will post a little tutorial so you can make your own chic up-cycled pillow.
